Not All Storage Is Equal, The Wrong Storage Can Damage Your Piano
Storing your piano under the wrong conditions can damage your instrument, decreasing it's value. Rapid humidity changes caused by storage near outside walls or vents for example can cause expansion and retraction of the soundboard, deterioration of the wool cloth in the action mechanism and warping of hardwoods.
We always ensure that we use storage with regulated temperature and humidity and no direct sunlight all year round to ensure the optimum conditions for your instrument.
Steps To Take Before Your Piano Goes Into Storage
As piano moving specialists, we are here to offer advice drawn from years of experience in moving and storing all kinds of instruments. We'll be more than happy to have a chat and advise you on any aspect of storing or moving your piano. Here are some simple tips to prepare your piano for storage.
- Clean and polish your piano, don't forget the keys.
- Cover the keys with a soft cloth or specialist keyboard cover and close the lid. This ensures no dust can build up on and in-between the keys.
- Place blankets or a specialist piano cover over your instrument. We always carry a wide range of materials and covers to ensure your instrument is safe during transit and storage.
- Take note of any damage on the piano, to ensure you are sure you are happy with the condition upon return.
Delighted with these guys who have helped me with a small house move this morning.
No issues with a very early start, took time to hear what items there were and special requirements, extremely quick to load and unload! (We were unloading in a bus lane!)
Removed a couple of doors to try to get a sofa in and reallly did everything they could.
Friendly, efficient service, very fairly priced and I highly recommend.
Fantastic Service from the guys at A1 Piano
Removals. We rang for a piano move and they also gave us a price for our house move which was a lot cheaper than the local firms we tried. They carried out the move with such speed and excellence we will use and recommend A1 to anyneone.
Well done Guys
